Aysén Region, Southern Patagonia
Spring break 2026
Discover the stunning landscapes of Chilean Patagonia by foot and raft. Compare national park management in the U.S. and Chile, learn critical field skills, and interact with the local tourism industry through discussions with river guides, park rangers, cooks, and more.
Note that this program will include:
Hiking
Rafting/Floating (no prior experience necessary)
OSU students will travel to southern Patagonia, Chile to discover land management and recreation in the Andes. You'll experience beautifully diverse landscapes from luminous mountains to glacial blue rivers, and discuss the people, policies and practices that conserve them. Students will have many opportunities to immerse themselves in the vibrant and resilient culture of Chilean Patagonia!
Activities include rafting on the world-famous Rio Futaleufu, cultural immersion experiences, and hiking in protected areas between Coyhaique and hiking Chile’s first IUCN Green-list park, Cerro Castillo National Park.
Students participating in the Winter Term program are also eligable for this experienece.
There are also opportunities for spring term internships in Chile! You can utilize financial aid and earn credit for these internships!
